Capitalism will save the world because nothing else can
The future is green but the future must still be made - and paid for.
Sorry-not-sorry for the light posting in recent weeks. I have been on holiday on the isles of Jura and Sardinia respectively. Time, however, to get back in the game.
Sometimes change happens much more quickly than people expect. Consider the sale of new cars in the United Kingdom. As this chart demonstrates, pure petrol (and diesel) cars now constitute a minority of sales in this country. Battery-powered electric cars and the various breeds of hybrid vehicles account for almost 55 percent of sales. Three years ago, the government announced that the sale of new petrol and diesel cars would be banned from 2030 (and hybrids from 2035). That seemed ambitious to the point of delusion in 2020; it now looks like something which will be achieved with ease. The people are voting with their own preferences and the market is working.
