The western world's enemy within: American voters
This year's presidential election is a copper-bottomed, ocean-going, disaster.
Once again, I am very grateful to you for reading The Debatable Land and more grateful still to those of you who have shared posts here with other people. Special levels of gratitude are, naturally, extended to everyone who has upgraded to a paid subscription.
Certain things were clear as soon as Russia invaded Ukraine. Among these obvious truths was the fact Ukraine’s survival as an independent nation would depend on the level of support it received from the United States of America for no other western country had - or has - the means to supply Kyiv with the material it required for its survival. Only American leadership could prompt and chivvy other western nations, other Nato members, into doing the right thing. The United States remained the indispensable nation.
